We had a storm in Windhoek a couple of weeks ago that blocked roads we needed to use and made us go around. Another storm the next week made the roof leak in our house. Travelling around, especially in Etosha and when Mr. Wrye was visiting some schools, we had to drive through some pretty big puddles (if they were small enough to be classified as puddles). At one
school our poor little sedan almost didn't make it through one puddle. All of the dams in the country are at (or over) capacity. We've been here for the rainy season of all rainy seasons.
Needless to say, Lillian can sing "Rain, Rain, Go Away" very well now. :)
P.S. On a related note, we got an update on the water situation in Walvis Bay. The water is now safe again. When we saw people filling up containers at constructions sites, it was because there were fire hydrants at the sites. The water was still contaminated and had to be boiled, but only the fire hydrants had any water during the shutdown; they didn't shut off the hydrants for safety reasons.
